Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic1Terrace, British Columbia $30.00Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate and training courses

Required Skills: Journeyman mechanic certification preferred (Heavy Duty, Commercial Transport, Automotive); Exposure to working on diesel engines and equipment; Ability to work without supervision and/or occasionally in remote setting; Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) certification considered an asset; Computer Experience; Analytical trouble shooting skills; Ability to read and understand parts and service manuals; Good knowledge of general health and safety guidelines; Excellent communication skills; Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Responsibilities: Diagnose, inspect and investigate defective equipment components and systems; Familiar with the use of computer diagnostic equipment to determine the cause of equipment defects; Maintain and/or repair heavy-duty equipment systems and components and replace components and parts as needed; Ensure all machinery and equipment is operationally fit for use before release from the workshop; Conduct equipment inspections before being transported to worksite or prior to returning to the yard; Operate equipment to diagnose failed components or to move equipment when required within the workshop/yard area; Record all work, parts and fluids used via work orders; Create and maintain a preventive maintenance program; Communicate with management within the organization; Communicate all parts and materials required to complete jobs with the workshop manager and/or parts person; Maintain a clean and safe work environment; Comply with all health and safety and environmental procedures; Travel out of the shop may be required for field maintenance on equipment
